some people like it hott.

My time was well spend in Arizona recently. I ran into some of my favorite people in the world and also some people i have never met before. One of the greatest evenings was some time spent in downtown Phoenix w/ a good friend. The neighborhood is similar to that of san diego's south/ north park areas w/ wonderful ambiance.
First we ate at one of the best thai places i have still yet to match.
It was perfect. I had the chicken pad thai and he had the spicy peanut chicken curry. It was bomb in my words. The crowd outside is interesting. The bar was awesome and the service was good. The Vietnamese 33 beer was off the charts. Way to go.
then we walked a few blocks and as we entered i figure we were going to visit a friend... oh a friend indeed. Rosevelts. cute, super chill bar ever. It's a house, an old craftsman turned into a bar... with many rooms and cool soft sofas to chill and hang.
The people across from us were having the craziest conversations ever. We let them be although the two guys were doing a horrible job trying to inform the girl they were with that she was going to hell for the things in her life or how she thought. Sometimes you intercept and sometimes you dont. That conversation was to on fire and way to drunk to intercept.
Overall what a wonderful time with such incredible people. I cannot wait to move out there but i know i have to wait a few years. I love california but something about that place make me feel joy and happy so much more than my beautiful home town of san diego. San diego, i will miss you alot.. but until then, i will use you and enjoy you more everyday !

Maybe you want it, But you def. Need it.

Recently I have been reading commentaries left and right. Mostly regarding the issues of this society and how we tend to blame others for our own issues.. and by issues, I really mean sin. But what happens when you do something bad, like having an affair with your friend’s wife? Or trying to kill a rival for your lover’s affections? Well,we don’t talk about sin because that has been dispensed with in our culture. So we look for the external cause of the behavior like alcohol or mental illness. No need to punish; when we have “treatment” that deals with these external causes.

Nonsense! What we need instead is to recover what therapy replaced: sin and individual responsibility, knowledge of right and wrong and the sense of shame that reinforces it. This might be decidedly politically incorrect, but it’s the only thing that will make “better persons” of us all. It's not true. The booze did not make us do anything, we were born with the disease.

This same disease is what deprives us from the things that are most important in our lives... which includes, yes rest. It's true. I have ran from it for so many years-- and I know me. I know when I am tired because my body tells me. Our society gets us addicted to such things that keeps us up longer, that gives us more enegry and one that is whack for sure is that we sleep so much less than we as people used to before. We push sleep and rest aside because we can count on the caffeine, the high, the rush... it's horrible.
But what about for Christians? God built rest into the very rhythm of creation. Keeping a day of rest is a priority. And believe it or not, rest serves a purpose—a divine purpose. It reminds us that God is in control.(i tend to forget) What happens when I can't finish everything that I think I NEED to get done but my body says “you have to go to sleep”? I have to depend on God.

Rest reminds us that there is Someone we can rest in. And our need for rest is a daily reminder that we are finite creatures and must trust in an infinite God.

We cannot do it alone. But the questions lay here... Are you resting? And even more so, are you trusting God?
I know my answers are not always yes. Sadly.

But sometimes the hardest things and the right thing-- they are the same. So true. Thanks Fray.
